Protesters shut down Bernie Sanders rally
Protesters who claimed affiliation with the Black Lives Matter movement stormed the stage during a rally for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in Seattle on Saturday, taking over the microphone and forcing Sanders to leave without ever speaking.
Moments after Sanders took the stage at Westlake Park, two women and one man climbed the stage and confronted the Democratic presidential candidate, demanding a chance to speak.CNN reports that Marissa Johnson is a co-founder of BLM in Seattle.
After several moments of confusion and confrontation, an event organizer took the microphone and said the protesters would be allowed to speak before Sanders. Some in the crowd booed.
One protester, who identified herself as Marissa Johnson, began by saying, “I was going to tell Bernie how racist this city is — with all of its progressives — but you’ve already done that for me. Thank you.”
The battle between the white Sanders supporters and the 'Black Lives Matter's crowd isn't new.....

Johnson spoke, among other things, about police violence in Seattle, mentioning a federal investigation into the city's law enforcement that resulted in the appointment of a monitor to make sure Seattle police were complying with the terms set forth by the Justice Department.
“Bernie says that he’s all about the people and about grassroots. The biggest grassroots movement in this country right now is Black Lives Matter,” she added.
She then mentioned the anniversary event that sparked the Black Lives Matter movement — the shooting of an unarmed black teenager named Michael Brown by a white police officer in Ferguson, Mo. last year.
Black Lives Matter was founded on a 4 Pinocchio LIE. Now that is progressive.......

NBC's Meet the Press highlighted the demographics of the average Bernie Sanders backer and it was predictable to say the least.. Would you guess that the progressive supporters of the far left populist Bernie Sanders are well off, white liberals with a college degree. Bernie is a democratic socialist and that mainly appeals to a demographic called the Liberal Elite.
Barack Obama won a razor-thin victory over Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Democratic primaries seven years ago in large part because black voters supported Mr. Obama by a 5-to-1 margin. Without their support, he would have lost, and lost big — probably by more than 20 points in the national popular vote.
As a result, many have framed Mr. Sanders’s challenge in racial terms. But his challenge in getting the support of nonwhite voters is not simply a problem of race. It’s primarily a problem with moderate and less educated Democrats, regardless of race, which disproportionately affects his support among nonwhite voters. Bernie Sanders on Thursday reported less than $750,000 in assets — all of it in his wife’s name — according to his presidential personal financial disclosure form.
The Vermont senator, mounting a liberal insurgent campaign against front-runner Hillary Clinton, also listed between $25,002-$65,000 in credit card debt on his Visa cards.
According to the disclosure, Sanders and his wife Jane reported between $194,026-$741,030 in assets, a broad combination of investment funds.Continued:
Sanders, by contrast, has no listed assets on his entire financial disclosure form, save for a municipal pension — all the assets provided in the form are listed in his wife’s name. He reported no trusts or stock of any kind.
His two credit cards, issued through the Congressional and Senate credit unions, carry interest rates of 8.5 and 10.25 percent respectively.

The Politico piece on Bernie Sanders is built around his weird personal life and who the mother of his kids is, but that's of less interest and less surprise when dealing with leftists back then. Equally unsurprising and telling, Bernie Sanders was unemployable outside politics and seems to have financed everything with dubiously obtained unemployment checks.
We're told that "He read Marx, Lenin and Trotsky." Like them, he wasn't big on working. Marx lived off Engels. Sanders lived off Uncle Sam.
"That summer, not quite 23, he and his wife, Deborah Sanders, bought for $2,500 some property in Vermont, near Montpelier in the town of Middlesex off Shady Rill Road, according to property records."
Where did the money come from?
"He explained the origin of the money Sanders used to buy the Middlesex land and the carpentry he did on the sugar shack. He said Sanders received unemployment, “for a few months,” in 1971, though Sanders can’t remember what the job was that qualified him for the benefits."
But living off unemployment was the Sanders way.
“The electricity was turned off a lot,” Barnett said. “I remember him running an extension cord down to the basement. He couldn’t pay his bills.”
He worked some as a carpenter, although “he was a shitty carpenter,” Bloch told me. “His carpentry,” Morrisseau said, “was not going to support him, and didn’t.”...
“He was always poor,” Sandy Baird, another old friend, told me in Burlington.
“Virtually unemployed,” said Nelson, the political science professor at the University of Vermont.
“Just one step above hand to mouth,” said Terry Bouricius, who was involved with Liberty Union, served at times as a de facto campaign manager for Sanders and at one point crashed for a couple months on his couch.
Liberty Union “people found it difficult to support themselves while engaging in full-time political work,” Michael Parenti, one of those people, wrote in the Massachusetts Review in the summer of 1975. “Some held jobs that allowed free time for campaign activities, while others lived off unemployment insurance.”
Sanders, according to an article in 1974 in the Bennington Banner, was one of them. He was on unemployment for a few months in 1971. In subsequent Liberty Union campaigns he advocated for “the doing away with all time limitations for unemployment benefits.”Bernie Sanders, just another unemployable populist political hack that fooled a lot of the people, a lot of the time. By refusing to release the transcript, the Republicans want to hide the true nature of the Blumenthal deposition: Their partisan attempt to both chill Blumenthal's right to freely express his own political views and more broadly to intimidate our organizations -- organizations that have led the way in exposing the fraudulence of the Benghazi investigation itself. (Not to mention our role in specifically defending Hillary Clinton from the Republicans' unfair attacks on the subject).Once you follow the money and 'Discover the Networks', you can see how the left leaning media is pressured to tow the Democratic party line.
Is Hillary Clinton’s embrace of populist and/or progressive rhetoric and policy positions consistent with her long-held convictions? Or is she only doing it belatedly, to shore up her support on the left, and to keep pace with the passions unleashed among Democrats by the rise of Elizabeth Warren and other factors?
The question gained some steam last week when Clinton shifted her stances on two key issues. She came out for a Constitutional right to gay marriage, when previously she’d said it should be left to the states, and embraced drivers’ licenses for undocumented immigrants, a position she’d previously opposed.
The real story here, I think, is what this all says about the changing nature of the Democratic Party.
It’s true that Clinton has plainly evolved her positions on gay marriage and immigration. But large swaths of the Democratic Party have evolved on these issues, too. There has been a stampede of high level Democrats coming out in support of gay marriage in recent years, in a scramble to keep pace with cultural changes that have caught everyone off guard. On immigration, the party is more unified in support of reform than it has ever been, partly a reflection of its increasingly reliance on Latinos. All of this movement is an outgrowth of a broader Democratic Party shift towards the cultural priorities of the coalition that powered Obama victories in the last two national elections — nonwhites, millennials, socially liberal college-educated whites — and away from a reliance on culturally conservative blue collar whites.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is pushing for legislation that he says will bolster pensions for millions of Americans.
Sanders, who has emerged as a top candidate against Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination, has joined Democratic Sens. Sherrod Brown (Ohio) and Tammy Baldwin (Wis.) in introducing the Keep Our Pension Promises Act, which aims to strengthen multi-employer pension plans.

Bernie Sanders is an avowed socialist, who ran as an 'independent' but does caucus with the Democrats, because they are really socialists too.
The legislation would reverse a provision, included in a spending bill passed last year, that allowed pension plans to cut retiree benefits in an effort to shore up the plans' finances.
Sanders said during a rally outside the Capitol late last week that without a repeal of the provision, "retirees all over this country could see their pensions cut by 30 percent or more. We cannot let that happen."
According to a fact sheet from Sanders' office, many multi-employer pension plans are underfunded or retirees have been "orphaned" after an employer left a plan or it went bankrupt.
In an effort to guarantee benefits, Sanders' legislation would create a fund for "orphaned" retirees. The fund would be offset by closing tax loopholes for the wealthy.
Members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters appeared alongside Sanders at his rally late last week. AARP has also backed the legislation.
Reps. Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio) and Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) have introduced a companion bill in the House.
