Democrats Renew Press for Curbs on E-Cigarettes

Roll Call updates us on the latest moves by the NANNY state Democrats to tax, regulate and expand government.

Democrats Renew Press for Curbs on E-Cigarettes

Democrats are renewing efforts to protect children from the potential harm of electronic cigarettes, but the main event will come on the regulatory front if the Food and Drug Administration meets expectations and releases a final rule this year.
The agency issued a long-anticipated proposal last April to extend its authority to e-cigarettes and other unregulated products under a 2009 tobacco law. Some Democrats and public health advocates have insisted the proposed rule does not go far enough, however, and are pressing the agency to take additional action to protect young people.

More from Roll Call:
Senate Minority Whip Richard J. Durbin, D-Ill., said he’s not expecting much on the legislative front before the final regulations come out, assuming that happens in a matter of months. Most of the outspoken critics of the fast-growing growing e-cigarette industry are Democrats in the minority in both chambers.
 Flavor and variety targets children?
Marketing Restrictions
The loudest criticism about the proposed rule from some Democrats and advocates may be that it doesn’t ban flavoring in e-cigarettes or marketing that could attract youth — though the FDA has said flavoring and advertising restrictions would require separate rule-making.
Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., introduced legislation before the proposal was released that would bar the products from being marketed in a way that would increase their use by children and her office said she plans to reintroduce it before the February recess. Connecticut Democrat Elizabeth Esty reintroduced a House version on Jan. 22.

Protesters Face Backlash After I-93 Sit-In

The professional protesters of the left brought their false narratives and street theater to the interstate on Thursday.

Protests on I-93 Cause Major Traffic Delays; 29 Arrested

Boston.com Staff | 01.15.15 | 7:50 AM
Protesters shut down I-93 Northbound at East Milton Square and I-93 Southbound in the Medford-Somerville area during the Thursday morning commute causing major traffic backups, according to Massachusetts State police.
Police reported that 29 people from the protest were arrested whileMassDOT said all lanes at the Milton scene were again open to traffic by 10:00 a.m.
The protest was organized by the Boston contingent of the group Black Lives Matter, according to an Associated Press report. In a statement posted Thursday morning on the group’s Facebook page, the protest was held “to ‘disrupt business as usual’ and protest police and state violence against Black people.”
The protesters: Well off, white, almost 30 and lives with their parents.  Stereotype or reality? Meet backlash.

The leftist collective is prepping for the 2016 elections. Activating and training  their useful idiots and refining their tactics will be useful in the many months ahead.  The previous marches exposed the coalition and unmasked most of the supporters already.

Behind the March - Anti-Police Protests Backed by Communists, Race Hustlers & More

We have seen them all before as Occupy Wall Street, the 'progressive' left's useful idiots financed by Soros, BIG Labor under many different banners, almost like socialist shell corporations.

Who are the protesters?

9/11 Museum Acquires Truther Art

9/11 Museum Acquires Truther Art

Conspiracy theory honored on sacred ground? The Memorial and the Museum are located at the World Trade Center site in lower Manhattan.

From Newsweek:
Museum spokespeople clarify to Newsweek that acquiring Questions doesn’t mean the museum is interested in any questioning of the standard narrative. “This artwork by a witness of the terror attacks in New York City, being accepted in the collection, references a perspective held by some who dispute historical accounts of September 11,” Chief Spokesman Michael Frazier writes in a statement. “While the Museum categorically disagrees with this perspective, does not in any way endorse it, and refutes it through our historical exhibitions, we recognize these baseless views were taken by some after 9/11 and see the artwork only as an artifact of that movement.”
“We do have other Truther material,” adds Anthony Guido, director of communications.
Freda created the work in 2006 for a story in The Village Voice. ANTHONY FREDA
More:
The 9/11 Museum has attracted 1.8 million visitors since it opened last May. Freda’s work joins a collection of more than 23,000 images and 10,300 artifacts, which include beams from the Twin Towers, emergency vehicles and personal objects that belonged to victims. The museum says it has no plans to display Freda’s work.
“You can’t have a 9/11 museum without the 9/11 Truth movement being represented in some way,” Freda says, though he concedes, “I’m still not sure what their motivations are for having this piece in there.”

Leftists Protest Vermont Scrapping 'Medicare for All' Single-Payer Healthcare

The coalition protests the Governor interrupting plans for a complete takeover of healthcare by the government in their state of Vermont. Single-payer means 'Medicare For All'  First some background on the recent changing of his mind about single payer....

Why single payer died in Vermont

Vermont was supposed to be the beacon for a single-payer health care system in America. But now its plans are in ruins, and its onetime champion Gov. Peter Shumlin may have set back the cause.

Advocates of a “Medicare for all” approach were largely sidelined during the national Obamacare debate. The health law left a private insurance system in place and didn’t even include a weaker “public option” government plan to run alongside more traditional commercial ones.

So single-payer advocates looked instead to make a breakthrough in the states. Bills have been introduced from Hawaii to New York; former Medicare chief Don Berwick made it a key plank of his unsuccessful primary race for Massachusetts governor.

Vermont under Shumlin became the most visible trailblazer. Until Wednesday, when the governor admitted what critics had said all along: He couldn’t pay for it.

“It is not the right time for Vermont” to pass a single-payer system, Shumlin acknowledged in a public statement ending his signature initiative. He concluded the 11.5 percent payroll assessments on businesses and sliding premiums up to 9.5 percent of individuals’ income “might hurt our economy.”

Vermont’s outcome is a “small speed bump,” said New York Assembly member Richard Gottfried, who’s been pushing single-payer bills for more than 20 years. But opponents says it’s the end of the road.

“If cobalt blue Vermont couldn’t find a way to make single-payer happen, then it’s very unlikely that any other state will,” said Jack Mozloom, spokesman for the National Federation of Independent Business.

“There will never be a good time for a massive tax increase on employers and consumers in Vermont, so they should abandon that silly idea now and get serious,” Mozloom added.

The sense of betrayal from single-payers’ most passionate advocates after Shumlin’s announcement was palpable, particularly as he had tied his own political persona to the idea. “It is time to put the interests of patients first, ahead of political expedience,” said Andrew Coates, president of Physicians for a National Health Care Program. Single-payer is “the only reform that will cover everyone, save lives and save money. Mr. Shumlin, of all our nation’s governors, knows this well.”

Betrayal is a form of Grubered. The coalition of leftist activists protest the inauguration of the new Governor. The following video shows the usual tactics of the left. Occupation, and obstruction are methods promoted by the SEIU, the chants are because leftism is a cult.

Obamacare was based on deception and lies.

And your STUPIDITY and your......

Gruber wasn't really involved with Obamacare?

Obama knew the whole time that MILLIONS would lose their healthcare because of Obamacare.

Then again, Obamacare is just a means to and end, single payer... by any means necessary.
