There are times when the reading of a newswire report generates
storms originated by a biased or predisposed approach.
On Oct. 22, 2012, at 11:10 a.m. ET, the Bloomberg News report
“
Fiat
Says Jeep® Output May Return to China as Demand
Rises”
stated “Chrysler currently builds all Jeep
SUV models at plants in Michigan, Illinois and Ohio. Manley
(President and CEO of the Jeep brand) referred to adding Jeep
production sites rather than shifting output from North America to
China.”
Despite clear and accurate reporting, the take has given birth to a
number of stories making readers believe that Chrysler plans to
shift all Jeep production to China from North America, and
therefore idle assembly lines and U.S. workforce. It is a leap that
would be difficult even for professional circus acrobats.
Let’s set the record straight: Jeep has
no intention of
shifting production of its Jeep models out of North America to
China. It’s simply reviewing the opportunities to
return Jeep
output to China for the world’s largest auto market. U.S.
Jeep assembly lines will continue to stay in operation. A careful
and unbiased reading of the Bloomberg take would have saved
unnecessary fantasies and extravagant comments.
The italicized segment of the paragraph by highlight from the Bloomberg article omits a few key facts.
The story’s first version didn’t say that Chrysler intended
to move its Jeep production from the U.S. to China. Bloomberg
News did update the story within hours of its first posting to
stress that point -- three days before Romney spoke.
Asked to explain what was erroneous with the Bloomberg
story, Saul asked to see it then didn’t respond to requests for
comment. Bloomberg News spokeswoman Meghan Womack said last
night, “Bloomberg’s story was not inaccurate. We stand by our

If you Watch the Romney Ad , it says
'plans to return Jeep output to China'
from the 10/22 Bloomberg article that says
'Fiat SpA (F), majority owner of Chrysler Group LLC, plans to return
Jeep output to China and may eventually make all of its models in that
country, according to the head of both automakers' operations in the
region. '
Clear and accurate reporting? Try
Not move Jeep to china, but
'plans to return output to China'. If Jeep only makes these models in the U.S., and then they build factories in China to make Jeeps, are you going to make more Jeeps in the United States? If you have capacity to produce locally, but change to a foreign location for production, what word should we use? Will duplicity and cost issues force the U.S. to build less Jeeps here in the future? What will be the demand for JEEPS or will they be able to achieve the new CAFE mileage standards?
If you sought clarification or correction of Romney's remarks in regards to Jeep on Oct 25, wouldn't accurately quoting the source in a T.V. commercial days later do just that?
Besides how long will the Chinese allow the following to continue.
Signs point to a lucrative Jeep market for Chrysler in
China. In May, Chinese dealers were able to charge the
equivalent of $189,750 for a high performance version of a U.S.-
built Jeep Grand Cherokee that retails in its home market here
for $54,470.
Chrysler Corporate and Obama propaganda can only hide behind the headlines. Consider this kneeslapper....

Fiat, which is working on a production plan for Europe to account for the region’s slumping demand, said today that it will build a small Jeep in Italy for export beginning in
2014. The Jeep, which wasn’t identified by name, is a new model for Europe and the U.S. that isn’t currently in production, according to a Fiat presentation.
